I apologize for my absence over the last few days.  We are all struggling.  I keep thinking I will get accustomed to this "quarantine situation," but that doesn't seem to be happening.  I think I am sad that the school year is coming to an end- and ending this way.  But, we are working to make it as fun as it can be.  I've sent out some senior info in the last few days, I will post those announcements below in case you missed them.  

Now, for your LAST ASSIGNMENT!!!! (AP, we still have a little to do, but this is the last big thing.)

You will create a short presentation about yourself.  (Don't lie; we all like talking about ourselves.) The directions and the sign up schedule are below.  Read the directions and sign up for a time.  

​Sign up for a time to present your Nine-Slide Journey.  You must sign in to the class Zoom at the time and must remain for the entire 30-minute session.  Type your first and last name and the period you are enrolled in English IV.  (Ex: April McCalister 4)  If you just want to see a friend present, simply find out what time they are presenting.  The more “audience members” the better.  I enjoy hearing from each of you, and I know you will enjoy seeing the presentations of your classmates.

Other Senior Stuff:

I said I wouldn't fuss at the people who haven't completed Research Papers until after today.  So, this is not a fuss.  I will start contacting you just to check status today.  If you have been in flux and I have had communications from your parents, I will also let them know where you stand as of this morning.  Just FYI.  Hope everybody has a great weekend!

Congratulations! If you have submitted your research paper, you are done for the week.  Woo hoo.  Take today and tomorrow off, and come back Monday for the LAST ASSIGNMENT of the year.  Before everything went crazy, I spoke with y'all about a final presentation.  It is a simple powerpoint about yourself.  I will share the directions Monday.  Now, for those of you who haven't submitted your paper.  Get on it.  I will refrain from really fussing until Friday.  So, don't throw your hands up and quit.  Get it submitted and let's move on.  I am so proud of the work some of your have done.  This online situation has let me get to know some of you who even better than I would have otherwise.  I am so proud of y'all and how y'all have taken on this challenge.  I look forward to reading your papers and will start that today.  My hope is to have them done by Monday.  I have been holding off putting in grades from these last few weeks until I see your final paper-- so I can give you credit for each part of the paper.  But expect those to go in over the weekend.  

AP Only:  Now, I have lots of information for you from CollegeBoard and a schedule of how we will review for the test moving forward.  I will need to have a meeting with you soon and will let you know when that will be.  The main thing I need you to do today is--  please make sure that you can log in to your CollegeBoard account and see if you are signed up through your caddo email or you personal email.  If you are signed up through your caddo email- you need to change it to a personal email.  CollegeBoard is sending out information and Caddo emails are not able to receive anything.  That's the only thing I need you to do today.  Enjoy the rest of your week. (unless you haven't turned in your paper).

Hey there all you cool cats and kittens!  Welcome back from your Easter Break.  I hope you were able to do SOMETHING special to mark the holiday, even if it wasn't your traditional observance.  This week is going to be more of the same-- finish that RESEARCH PAPER.  As you should be aware, the paper is due in its entirety (Title Page, Sentence Outline, Paper with Parenthetical Documentations, and Works Cited Page) Wednesday by midnight.  I have created an example file that has all of the things as one continuous file.  You need to open it, copy it to your own research folder, and copy/paste your info as indicated.  Your paper MUST be submitted through TurnItIn.  I am about to create the assignment now.  If you do not know your TurnItIn information, please contact me via Remind.  

Below you will see a PDF copy of the example research paper.  This will allow you to see the comments/directions for clarification (in case you can't see it when you copy the document to your own folder.  Below you will also find the link to the example document in GoogleDocs that you should copy to your own folder. 

The Sentence Outline that are marked as being due today just need to be updated as much as possible so that when I look at them over the weekend I can see that you have made progress.  It is fine if they are not 100% done.  I just want to see that you are on your way to a completed Research Paper with everything that entails.  Scroll down to see the last post for more information.
