Before you read the rest, please make sure you are in the Remind for your class: AP- @mccalister or Enriched- @mccaliste to 81010 or join using that code on the Remind App. You should all have the Remind App downloaded, and if you don't, do that ASAP. It would also be wise to download any other Google Apps on your phone that will allow you to see updates and complete assignments. I will put daily tasks on the Online School tab. I aim to have new assignments up by 9AM each day. Check that tab often as new information will be coming every day. (We got this!)

Read the instructions below. I will continue to add to this post as I receive information from Mr. Ilgenfritz on how to proceed. But this is what I have planned so far:
- Anytime I post an announcement, assignment, or anything else on our website, I will message you on Remind. So, again, please make sure you are in the Remind on your phone.
- I have established Office Hours that will allow you to have direct contact with me and receive immediate answers to any questions regarding lessons and assignments within that time frame. They will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday. You can still contact me whenever you need anything outside of those hours. I am always available no matter what, so don't let that discourage you from sending me a message if you need me to answer something before or after hours. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.
- Spring Break will still be Spring Break. There will be no assignments and no lessons from March 23-27. As we will be working on the research paper and (AP Only) reading, you may need to work on writing and reading over that time, but it is not REQUIRED. As always, if you need to contact me during that time, feel free to do so. I'm definitely not going out of town or probably leaving my house for that matter so you can still get in touch with me.
- Notes and Lectures: Each day I will post detailed instructions/lessons on the Online School tab of this website. You have used our website enough by now that you understand the organization of everything. Wherever possible I will link pages, etc directly in the day's instructions.
- Warm Reads, Cold Reads, Quizzes: We will continue the WR/CR structure that we've been using all year. Any quizzes will be handled as they have been through the website in the past. Quizzes will open at at 8:00 AM and must be completed by 4:00 PM that afternoon. (If there is a scheduling conflict, please let me know ASAP.)
- CommonLit, study.com, APClassroom, etc: We will continue to use these sites as we have all year. You can expect weekly-ish assignments on these sites, but all of this will be outlined in the daily instructions.
- I will also layout a calendar for the next few weeks so you can have a general overview of everything, but I do expect you to complete both daily work and long-term assignments. The workload will be no more than normal, and I know that you can handle it.

One more thing:
Many of your friends and classmates may struggle during this time. I (and many others like me) actually need the structure of going to school each day. We don't always know what is going on in the homes of our friends. For some kids, school represents stability, safety, and sanity. I find that my mental wellness requires that I interact with people and maintain a consistent schedule. I know that working from home is going to be a real challenge for me. I say this to reassure those of you who are like me. If you need to talk to somebody, please reach out. As always, I am here to help you however I can. If you rely on breakfast and lunch at school, those are still available. Check out the website to see what times and how to access those services. I am still looking for ways to interact with you via online platforms and will let you know as I figure out new ways that we can see and talk to each other. During this time, I hope that you will interact with each other as much as possible. Don't let your friends isolate themselves as that is not good for anyone. Snap each other, message each other, check up on each other. We are all in this together! If you were behind in your work before the closure happened, this may actually work out well for you as you have the time to catch up hopefully. I will update grades that we got last week as soon as possible and will keep you abreast of everything I do as we work through each day. Please be patient and flexible with your teachers as we are also organizing things as they come. In the end, I think we will all learn much from this experience. Finally, I hope you will take a minute to be thankful that you attend Caddo Magnet High School. As a product of our school, you are far more prepared to take on this type of learning than any other students in the parish. You know how to organize tasks, meet deadlines, and learn independently. While other schools may struggle, our school will take this hiccup in stride, and we will end up better and stronger afterwards. I love you! Miss McCalister |
